Seven Publishing Group is an award-winning publishing company with a proven track record in producing high-quality consumer and customer magazines, including Sainsbury’s Magazine and delicious. magazine. Established in July 2003, Seven now publishes the largest paid-for food magazine portfolio in the UK with combined circulation sales of nearly 2 million a year, but we also work with a diverse range of clients across all genres who rely on us to produce tailor-made cross-media solutions through our dedicated customer publishing arm, Seven Squared.

Seven Squared was formed in April 2007 when Seven combined its customer publishing division with Square One, the UK’s fastest growing and most highly regarded customer magazine publisher that was itself established by Peter Dean and Sean King in 1994.

Seven Squared now counts Coutts Bank, English Heritage, Fortnum & Mason, HMV, Norwich Union, the RAC and Waterstone’s plus several Government Departments and the Metropolitan Police amongst its rapidly-expanding blue-chip client portfolio.

The Directors

The Seven Group was founded in July 2003 by three of the UK’s leading magazine publishing and multi-media professionals. Michael Potter, Chairman, was Chief Executive and Founder of contract publisher Redwood Publishing and is widely recognised as the pioneer of customer publishing. He also launched hugely successful titles for the BBC including Top Gear, Gardener’s World and Good Food. Seamus Geoghegan, Managing Director of Seven’s Consumer division, was former head of BBC Worldwide’s Lifestyle Group where he was responsible for a wide range of consumer magazines and books generating a turnover of £53m a year. Jo Sandilands, Editorial Director has one of the most experienced backgrounds of anyone in media. Her roles included Programme Director at Capital Radio, where she gave Chris Tarrant his iconic role as morning presenter. Seven’s talents and energies are backed by major shareholders the Guardian Media Group and private equity group Caledonia Investments.

The Customer Publishing division, Seven Squared, consists of Square One’s existing portfolio, new clients and Sainsbury’s Magazine, the UK’s biggest-selling paid-for food magazine and the UK’s fourth most popular women’s monthly title. Sainsbury’s Magazine was added to the group portfolio in January 2005 through the acquisition of New Crane, the company set up in 1993 by Michael Wynn-Jones and his wife, television chef Delia Smith.
